How Parents Shape the Terra School Community: Volunteer, Apogee, and Education Programs

Partnering with Parents to Build a Stronger Terra Community

At Terra School at Serenbe, we believe education is most powerful when families and educators work hand in hand. A core strength of our school is the partnership between parents and staff—when families are engaged, students thrive, teachers feel supported, and our community grows stronger.

This month, we’re spotlighting ways you can get involved: from volunteering at school, to participating in the Georgia Apogee Program, to joining upcoming Parent Education events designed to inform, inspire, and connect.

Keep Your GA Taxes Local: Support Terra Through the Apogee Program

The Georgia Apogee Program has officially kicked off for the year. Did you know you can designate the state taxes you already owe to support Terra School at Serenbe’s financial aid program?

This isn’t a donation—it’s simply redirecting your Georgia tax dollars to provide financial support for students at Terra. Currently, 22% of our learners benefit from financial aid, and your participation helps make this possible.

Parent Education Calendar 2025/26

At Terra, parent education is an essential part of building a thriving community. Our Parent Education Program is designed to:

  • Build a common language around how we think and talk about children, families, educators, and learning.

  • Create space for parents to gather, celebrate milestones, and support one another through challenges.

  • Connect families across Serenbe’s neighborhoods, fostering friendships, shared resources, and a strong network of support.

For questions about the program, reach out to Lisanne Farach Hardin (EMH School) or Nicole Bettis (Montessori).

Montessori Parent Silent Journey & Journey of Discovery

Friday, September 12 | 4:00–5:00 PM

Saturday, September 13 | 10:00 AM–12:00 PM

This two-part event series invites parents to immerse themselves in the world of a young Montessori learner.

  • Silent Journey (Sept. 12): Walk through each Montessori studio in guided silence, experiencing the prepared environment through the eyes of a child. Without students present, parents can deeply observe how the materials and spaces engage the senses, mind, and spirit.

  • Journey of Discovery (Sept. 13): Reconvene for community sharing, light breakfast, and hands-on engagement with Montessori materials, guided by Terra educators.

Both events are adults-only and begin in the Nido/Toddler lobby before concluding in the Primary studios.
