Terra School is in Serenbe, an idyllic community nestled among preserved forests and meadows in South Fulton county. Just 45 minutes outside of Atlanta, we opened our new campus in August, 2023 with state-of-art 1500 square foot classrooms and attached outdoor learning spaces. As a community-based STEAM school, we serve families from a range of cities and towns in Fulton, Coweta, Carroll and Fayette counties.
We currently have 240 students and offer programs spanning from 8 weeks through 12th grade. Our goal is to nurture students who thrive in a diverse and ever-evolving world, equipped with resilience, intellectual humility, an ethical compass, and boundless curiosity.
Position: Montessori Community Assistant Teacher
Terra School at Serenbe seeks a Montessori Community Assistant Teacher to contribute to our early childhood Montessori learning environment. As a Community Assistant, you will play a key role in maintaining a positive space, supporting the lead educators, and empowering students. As a Montessori program, we strive to support the sensitive periods of each learner. The goal is to allow them to develop an intrinsic motivation to learn. This position serves each community as an additional support and guide in the classrooms where needed.
Responsibilities:
Environmental Support: Prepare daily classroom spaces, ensuring access to materials. Anticipate and address safety concerns.
Curriculum Implementation: Assist in implementing Montessori lessons and curricula, and assist in tone-keeping and classroom management.
Accountability and Empowerment: Empower our youngest learners by promoting self-care and independence.
Academic Assistance: Assist with daily classroom routines and reinforce learning.
Classroom Operations: Perform miscellaneous duties to support classroom operations, i.e. rest time, lunch, and outside time.
Relating joyfully and sensitively to children.
Following teacher-provided lesson plans in the event of a teacher absence.
Preferred Qualifications:
Have a high school diploma
Have obtained a Montessori diploma or certification, or training (AMS, AMI, MACTE preferred)
Have obtained an Associates Credential in Infant and Toddler Care (or equivalent experience)
Have experience with the 0-6 age group in a group setting, such as daycare, aftercare or nursery
Help children by giving them the tools to be independent
Are open to guiding your colleagues, and be guided by them in turn
Take pride in your work
